I finally proved it....

Woolworths is cheaper in the long run to buy at than Franklins!

Sometimes it's not by much (eg a cent) and sometimes it's a larger difference. And then occasionally you'll find an item that's more expensive but overall....SHOP AT WOOLWORTHS!



Comparisons are by item & cheapest available

500g cheese LITE, block FRANKLINS: $3.59 WOOLWORTHS $3.19

Choc-chips (no name) FRANKLINS: $1.29 WOOLWORTHS $1.29

Flour Tortillas FRANKLINS: $2.99 WOOLWORTHS $2.83

White flour (2kg) FRANKLINS: $1.79 WOOLWORTHS $1.67

Pasta 500g FRANKLINS: 64c WOOLWORTHS 59c

Powdered Milk (Skim) FRANKLINS: $4.59/kg WOOLWORTHS $4.136/kg

Muesli (in a 750g bag) FRANKLINS: $3.43 WOOLWORTHS $3.18

Skim Milk 2 litres FRANKLINS: $2.39 WOOLWORTHS $2.72


Prices may differ to these because the two stores I compared are in the same shopping complex so they are in heavy competition with each other but Woolworths has won my heart..... :-P

You have been busy - I shop at Action. It's closer to home (not by much) - but it's not as busy as Woolies or Coles.

Ah yes I've seen them. My MIL used to shop at one in Brisbane. They don't have any Action stores down here. It's Aldi, Coles, Woolworths & Franklins. I think I'll do a run through Aldi with my price book sometime and get the prices on the items I compared today as well.

Action is Franklins. Aldi is too far away for us. Woolies and Coles are in the same complex together at Robina Town Centre - but it's made over there to get a park etc. Action is at a smaller shopping centre and it's easy to get a park etc.

Ooooooh! I understand!!! :) Well, that makes perfect sense! And if Franklins was closer than Woollies I'd probably shop there too. The few cents difference isn't much. I did is mostly to see whether I was doing the right thing shopping at Woollies! :)

Oh and yeah Coles is NUTSO for too many people. Woollies is slightly more busy than Franklins but only slightly. I get through the checkout as fast as I can unpack the trolley most of the time which is good.

Cool that you figured out which is cheaper :). What's funny is that i didn't know Woolworth's was a grocery store. I thought it was a department/clothing store (maybe there used to be one calld that in the US? I think that's where one of the famous sit-ins during the civil rights movement in the south happened, at a Woolworth's counter)
